Exotica Indica began operations in 2005 designing and importing decor and building related materials. The major emphasis of the company is design, production and import of hand-made inlaid marble accent tiles. Sales of catalog designs and custom orders are made through high-end tile showrooms. Biographies of key personnel

For over 18 years, Exotica Indica’s President, Eric Lane, has made India the focus of his study, analysis and periodic living. With the gradual opening of India’s markets since 1991, the desire to participate in this emerging market has drawn him into the depth of its operations at all levels. His early experience in the country was largely one of academic research culminating in degrees from both UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago in South Asian History and Area Studies. After returning to India in 1999, he headed First Select (P) Ltd, an HR recruitment and consulting firm in New Delhi. His most recent assignments in the field of communication were as Head of Training for IBM India and as Assistant Vice President in General Electric India. Eric lives with his family near Delhi, but still manages to travel throughout the country in search of the best in Indian ancient artistic styles and techniques with application to the modern western world. He has become familiar through rail and road travel with the expanse between India’s four geographic corners - internalizing its vast range of cultures. This has given him the knowledge and confidence to operate anywhere in India and afforded him an excellent foundation in ensuring that our orders and custom work run smoothly and represent the highest caliber of artistic expression.

James Wood has managed the information systems of some very cutting edge, high technology enterprises: from the overtly creative LucasArts, to a highly innovative research facility, the Buck Institute for Age Research. We are very lucky to have James as part of the Exotica Indica team. James has implemented some very comprehensive technology solutions for our international business applications and communications. He is also particularly interested in fine design and its interrelationship with culture and history around the world. In this field, James has received a degree from UC Berkeley. James oversees North American operations and manages our sales and marketing. He puts great emphasis on understanding the needs of the customer, and takes great pride in seeing projects to successful completion.

Deepty Lane is our Treasurer. Deepty was raised in India and continues to live near New Delhi, but makes frequent trips to the United States and Europe. Included among her many contributions to Exotica is her MBA in International Business from Lucknow University. Deepty’s ability to keep herself well balanced between Indian and western perspectives on everything from production deadlines, to finances to culturally dependent notions regarding artistic vision have made her an invaluable asset to our team. Without a local perspective and understanding of how business functions from the ground-up in the sourcing country, Exotica would not be as strong an organization as it is today.

Lamona Wood, our Director of Design, is a licensed architect whose California based practice has ranged from Stanford University projects, to several affordable housing developments, to Gymboree retail clothing stores nationwide. Her recent focus has been high-end residential projects, most notably, all of the interior detailing for former quarterback Joe Montana’s new $35 million wine country estate. Lamona’s special areas of expertise include the design of expressive exposed structural framing, the incorporation of antiques into new construction, and comprehensive tile and stone layout. Lamona is very talented with computer aided design and uses various graphics software to produce renderings of Exotica Indica’s inlaid marble products before they are committed to stone. Lamona holds both a B.A and a Master of Architecture degree from UC Berkeley.
